Got Any Good Luck Talismans?
This seems to be the week to clutch your amulet, fish out your lucky penny, apologize to the rabbit whose foot you stole, get your hamsa on hand, be prepared to ward off the evil eye (or get ready to cast one) and go hunting through that patch of clover. I’m pretty sure it’s gonna be a wild weekend featuring the Impetuous Lord Dampnut and Company, if it hasn’t already started by the time this is published.
While I believe in preparation over luck, I think we’re all as prepared as we can be for what’s starting to hit the fan. It’s time for some small meaure of serendipity, good fortune or providence to lend a hand.
I carry a small obsidian arrowhead I found on our property in my car, and on my keychain I carry a sound grenade because if I’m ever in the situation of seeing public harrassment taking place again I now have a noisy method for disrupting it.
But now I’m mildly obsessed with milagros, those small metal religious pieces that can be carried in a pocket or pinned to a garment. A milagro can be blessed or held for protection or good luck. Each piece is up for various interpretations, for example:
Legs and feet: This might represent one’s leg and some condition associated with it, such as an injury, or arthritic condition. It might also represent one’s strength, and the concept of travel, such as, not only walking, but a journey, or even the idea that one might be safe driving back and forth from work every day.
